the pokemiku concert was great and i think i should live forever now
hello bearblog. it's me your rival aqua. it's been a while since we've battled... i wanna see how strong your pokemon have gotten.
i watched the project voltage (also known as pokemiku) concert today with three of my friends. they all also know far more about pokemon than i do. my brother liked pokemon as a kid and it was my first ever anime as it was for a lot of kids. but i've rarely played the games (swsh and scvi are the only two i've played to completion), so i felt a little awkward watching with my oomfs.
you wanna know what i do have a lot of knowledge of though? it's my goat vocaloid. i've been a vocaloid fan since i was in the fourth grade, and it means a lot to me even now when i hold many things close to my heart. including its fucked up offspring project sekai.
(i like project sekai a lot, of course. but when it's been 5 years and you're a fan of a gacha game, you start to get evil with it.)
the concert
but anyway, with my barebones pokemon knowledge, and my insane-o vocaloid knowledge, i had quite a fun time at the concert. especially because they pulled out a lot of producers who i recognized. they also started the concert with the song that was released on my birthday!!!! but it's by mitchie m so i'm not exactly the proudest about this!!!!!!!!!!! it's a shame too because it was a cute song and mitchie m is very talented it's just a shame he's an aibro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love and peace on planet vocaloid
they made it up to me with some legendary visuals though. in no particular order, my favorites:
- eon ticket by marasy had a really cute choreography. miku and kaito's dynamic is also very sweet to me so this song was awesome
- PARTY ROCK ETERNITY by hachiouji-p had some great aura farming.
- i'm a ghost-type by syudou was actually pretty normal, but also it's really easy to forget how fucking huge gengar is. this song is also where i took my photo to post to instagram stories. midphoto gengar stuck their tongue out and it was really funny.
- fly with you was very cute once my friend reminded me of the song's plot. i think it's also really funny they told everyone to sit down because of how long the song is. surprisingly it didn't feel that long to me lol
- go! team BIPPA! is peak forever and i'm really sad i missed a good chunk of it because i was also doing my part time job near the start of the concert. my friend grey (who i was watching with) and i met through wonderful*opportunity's music so bippa-dan's performance was one of the high points for me. bippa saikou
- seeing kasane teto in a cryptonloid concert will never not be amazing to me, and facade question was hype for this very reason. i'm also quite proud of the fact that i predicted her song being done by 32ki, also known for mesmerizer. i liked sudowoodo standing to the side. they had quiz questions for the audience on the side monitors as well, so it was probably one of the coolest.
the gag at the end was also quite cute. ditto shows up and takes miku's place in the final chorus. my friend grey points this out, only for my friend spica to ominously go "it's not over yet." cue the end of the song, and the side monitors have "which was ditto?" as the final question. very cute. bless my beautiful teto life - journey's prequel, journey's traces is a very sweet song and it made me have my first cry of the night. also how is pichu that tiny. how are you that small. how are you that small
- after epochs' melody at the start is beautiful and it also has one of my favorite visuals. i typed a huge paragraph for facade question but like. wow i love animation. i love 2d art. i love creation. the concert performance mixed miku's standard 3d motion capture visuals with after epochs' hand drawn animation and it's FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! miku turns into the other trainer mikus. go watch the concert through any means you can and marvel at the beauty of human creation.
- i started freaking out when juvenile and glorious day came on. that one oomf who don't play about jin and eve. respectively
- crossroad is still such a insane song. the fact that it exists to begin with is insane. i don't think i've heard anything from kz since catch the wave for project diva megamix and POKEMON revived him. AND THEY GOT RELLA FOR THE ARTWORK TOO. and its a beautiful music video too. i don't know much pokemon lore but seeing all these characters animated in such a beautiful style is enough to make me wanna cry. i didn't cry though because they didn't show the mv at the concert. thanks
i should play more pokemon games
...speaking of which.
i've had this idea for a while now but it'd be good to act on after i have more free time... i've been curious about the various pokemon games' stories and i'd love to experience it for myself one day. also knowing more about this game might be nice. for evil oc reasons. it's kind of evil i haven't made a proper pokemon au for my ocs because i don't know any pokemon stuff!!!!!!!! damn it all to hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also you won our battle. i'm broke as hell though so i'm not giving you any money okay? thank you for understanding i'm gonna say something ominous now to give you an idea as to where my character arc is heading.
